"Okay, let's see... I headed east from Rhyming Rock that day..."

Gobo was poring over his maps, ready to fill out a new part onto one. He tapped his pencil against the page as he tried to recall- Ah!

...Ah.

"Right, and that was as far as I got before the doozers' construction work stopped me. Hmm." He scrunched his snout up in clear annoyance, tapping the pencil harder and more quickly, now. "Guess there's nothing for me to add, after all..."

A lot had changed for Lexi from her childhood, through her teen years, and into adulthood. One thing that hadn't? Getting pulled into crazy adventures, oh joy of joys.

This particular adventure wasn't even a treasure hunt, either. No, this was one of her dumb best friend's explorations. Why did she keep letting herself get dragged along on these? Ugh. She and Gobo were checking out an old mining site near Birchpointe. It was supposed to have been cleaned out of valuable ores long ago, so... Still didn't count as a treasure hunt, which was always the silver (or gold) lining to these things.

Of course, Lexi wasn't actually having the bad time of it she was acting like - no, she loved to spend time with Gobo. For a while, there had been a number of factors that made that a rarity, but now it was easier to hang out and chill. Or hang out, trip, and nearly fall headfirst into a mining cart.

Luckily, Lexi managed to catch herself by grabbing onto the sides of the cart, but still. "I hate your dumb ideas," she muttered, glaring at Gobo. Partially because she was embarrassed about her stumble, but mostly because it was how he'd know she was okay.

Elsa stepped into the woods, which was covered in blanket of snow that reflected the full moon's light. The whole forest seemed to glow with it. It had been a busy day, and her mind was too restless to allow sleep, but this would at least give her some calm and quiet. She breathed in the cold winter air, feeling it renew her from the inside out. She started her walk, winding a path through the trees without paying much mind to which direction she took. She could always feel the love that called her home when it was time.

Once she'd relaxed, that allowed for some playfulness. Moving her hands elegantly, Elsa caused drifts of snow to float up into the air and swirl and dance there- Until the crunching of snow beneath feet reached her ear. She stilled, and all at once, the snow fell around her.

"Hello? Is someone there?"

Gobo sighed happily as he stepped outside of Fraggle Home, breathing in the fresh air. Mokey and Red were with Frizzle and Dune at the park, and Wembley was helping Boober prepare lunch for the three of them. Gobo had offered to help, but Boober had... Semi-politely pointed out that Gobo was no cook, and cooking with Wembley was already going to present certain challenges. But it was kind of nice, having some "him time" - he'd decided he'd tend to the gardens, and started heading out that way.

From the moment the baby had born, Frizzle had become Gobo's pride and joy, and it really seemed that the feeling spread through all of the others, not just Mokey. And while Gobo appreciated everyone's love for their son, and all the help they offered, he couldn't help notice there was a bit less help when Frizzle woke up before dawn, screaming and crying.

He didn't blame them, honestly, but it would have been nice... Ah, well.

He and Mokey were quite tired after a particularly bad string of nights, and Gobo had insisted Mokey get some sleep now that the day had really begun. He'd take care of Frizzle, while the others were still catching up on their own sleep at the Manor. It wasn't even leadership duties... It was what a father did.

He was rocking Frizzle in his arms, hoping he could catch up on sleep as well, when he heard a knock on the door. Were the others back already- Maybe just Boober? Boober might knock, Wembley and Red never did.

"Come in!"

Wembley was aware that he wasn't a calming presence. A buoying once, sure, but calming? Not so much. And that was okay, because everyone had their own skillset! But right now, Gobo needed calming - and the others in the immediate group at Fraggle Home were all out.

Now, Wembley thought Gobo being a king was weird - even if it was mostly just a name. Fraggles didn't work that way. But still, if someone had to be a Fraggle king, he couldn't think of anyone better.

The only problem was how stressed it often left Gobo. He seemed to have finished answering letters, he wasn't writing anything anymore, but the way he sat at the kitchen table, the look on his face... Those still weren't good.

Slowly, like how he'd approached Cabbage when the cat was new in Fraggle Home, he neared.

"I'm here, Gobo."

A lot of Gobo's meetings with Daniel were unexpected on the Fraggle's part - a result of Daniel being constantly aware of just about everything going on around him. However, that day, Gobo had gone to Birchpointe with the specific intent of seeking out the Sentinel. Getting to his apartment floor wasn't too hard. He was getting pretty good with the elevator even solo, if he did say so himself! He was pretty sure he remembered which door number was Daniel's, too, and headed over to knock on it.

Maybe Daniel could get him another one of those amazing ice cream sundaes today...

Step, ow, step, ow, step ow...

Everything still ached following the Wembley-induced spill Gobo had taken down the steps around the hill at Fraggle Home. Sure, Boober - once he'd taken over - was great with healing, but the fall had only happened a couple of days ago - that was the day he'd originally been intending to see Chris, too. Better late than never...?

Once he'd made it down the hall in the apartment building, he raised his right hand to knock on the door, sighed as he realized he couldn't do that right now, and then gingerly knocked with his left hand instead.

Birchpointe sure had plenty of places to explore, but Gobo found himself coming back to the parks again and again. There were several, and they were so big! Besides, the parks were out in nature, and you never knew what you might see...

...Or who! Gobo grinned when, from his semi-hiding-spot beneath a bench, he saw Daniel across the pathway. Daniel was a nice guy. Mokey sure seemed fond of him, and of course, he sure was helpful. So Gobo crouched low and made his way over before popping back up at Daniel's feet.

"Hi there!"

Since Daniel had decided to spare him, Wembley's life had changed. Sometimes, he was a bit of a pet to the young man, in all honesty - or at least a very loyal sidekick. And he was more careful when getting his food - and actually conscientious of the whole "property" and "ownership" things.

Sort of.

Most of all, though, Wembley was less afraid to be around silly creatures - humans. Though he knew he still had to be careful, he now knew there were good, honest people among them. He spent more time in the heart of Valentine, usually out of sight but able to take them all in. They were interesting, especially to someone who had spent almost his entire life around a family and very small social group of only Fraggles.

Still, there was something to be said for species familiarity; for having companionship from someone who understood your culture and where you came from... It was just that life for the Fraggles he already knew was so different, now, from his own. They weren't out here like he was.

So when a bit of unusually vivid and bright colors caught his eyes one day as he scurried behind storefronts looking for discarded scraps... Well, he certainly didn't assume it was another Fraggle. But the color was also different than the drab colors and occasional jewel tones that silly creatures seemed to prefer. Also, that flash he'd just spotted out of the corner of his eye? It had been moving.

"Hey, wait!" Wembley called as he did a doubletake and then took chase.

Wembley was reasonably sure his head was going to explode. He felt so congested, and he couldn't stop shivering. The worst part, though? He'd had to stay behind when the others headed out to get things ready for the baby. The baby may have been Gobo and Mokey's by blood, but there wasn't a single resident of Fraggle Home who wasn't anticipating their new arrival.

He smiled, a little, comforting himself with thoughts of a little puffling around- But the comfort was cut short by an abrupt (and loud) sneeze.

Gobo seemed to be doing better after his near-breakdown over a week ago, and Mokey wanted to help continue that pattern. And in all honesty, keeping Gobo involved in all aspects of the pregnancy didn't just benefit him. It was fun, and heart-warming, to have him be as big a part of it as she was, whether they were planning for something major, or doing something small. Like now, when Gobo was massaging her sore back.

"Thank you so much, Gobo."

The funny thing about an inter-dimensional tunnel? You could never be sure where one would pop up.

Della was doing some solo exploring. She'd been back on Earth for over a year and finally felt ready to do as much, and - inspired by a certain dayglo-bright friend - she'd decided her first time adventuring on her own since the moon would be mapping out the unexplored caverns that stretched out past Coot's underground corn stores.

Speaking of Gobo, though- At first, Della barely too note of the tiny off-shoot tunnel; to small for her to fit through, but she supposed it ought to be on the map. And once she started paying it some mind, she got curious as to who or what had formed in. Leaning down, she peered inside...

With a delighted laugh, she waved at the very familiar figure she could just barely make out in the glow from her flashlight, and her free hand reached in to ruffle a messy head of magenta hair.

While none of her Fraggle form's little quirks carried over, it was hard to deny that those first couple of days after gaining it - during which she'd been stuck as a Fraggle - had effected her. It was in little ways, but... For example, being in nature was something she appreciated more after that adventure. Lying outside like she was now, stretched out on her front and idly running blades of grass through her fingers - it was nice.

Besides, once Gobo stopped by, they'd probably end up outside anyway, so waiting for him out here saved energy.

She was waiting in Louie's yard, because Gobo still wasn't quite sold on Scrooge, but they probably wouldn't be sticking around the whole time, anyway. After all, Gobo liked to roam, and Lexi liked to show him around the town she loved so much.

Lexi's first crush had come when she was about eleven, and had ended before she was twelve. Webby's interest in her and her family, though unnerving, had been flattering - and she was nice to Lexi. That went a long way to a kid who'd barely had friends outside of family prior to that. But, ultimately, it had been a passing infatuation with someone who she wasn't suited for, and who wasn't suited for her.

There had been other people in her teenage years - crushes and relationships alike - with all kinds of people, and plenty of meaningless flirtations in addition to those. For a while, she'd thought that was what she'd been doing with Gobo - flirting harmlessly. It was certainly fun, but he was, well, Gobo. It clearly didn't mean anything.

Right? The thing was, she found herself thinking about Gobo a lot, even when they weren't together. Notable experiences left her eager to tell him, and she often wondered if he'd like this or that thing... He was becoming a big part of her life. That was still a bit scary to Lexi with anyone, but in this case? Doubly so.

At least she knew who to go to when it came to any sort of strange thing like this. And she knew Louie was in town for a bit, so off to Donald's place she headed.

The world was a beautiful place. That was true beneath the ground as well, but everything up on the surface - even after a year - still inspired awe in Wembley. Autumn was wonderful, and he appreciated it more on his second experience. The first autumn he'd spent above-ground had been bittersweet; all those lovely colors, but they meant the leaves and plants were dying... Now, he had a bit of a better understanding of how things worked up here. Out on a walk with Gobo, he was able to appreciate it all. Everything seemed to bring him joy, from the nip in the air to-

"What a nice pinecone!"

The birthday campout hadn't quite gone as planned, but it had fueled Lexi and Gobo's friendship enough that, when the idea of a do-over came up, Lexi ultimately agreed to it. After all, she'd only spent a few hours outside on Gobo's birthday. That had been over a week ago, too.

And the first day of the trip hadn't been too bad, she had to admit. They'd picked a different place this time, a spot outside the Other Duckburg where Louie had suggested there might be arrowheads to be found that she could sell for a pretty good price. Sure, the craggy landscape had left Lexi a little concerned about sleeping comfortable, but once she was in her sleeping bag that night, she'd actually been out like a light.

She slept in late the next morning, too, even through several minutes of someone calling her for help... But when the cries did get through to her mind, she awoke with a jolt.

"Gobo? Oh man!" She scrambled out of the sleeping bag and made her way toward the source. It couldn't have just been a relaxed, lucrative little trip, now could it? Great.

Oh, sure, the flowers were supposed to be for helping him save and restore stories, but there was no rule that Wembley had heard which said he couldn't have fun with them in-between tales. A spiral of flowers wound over the hill, tapering off where he was relaxing with Gobo. With a little chuckle, Wembley chained another circle of flowers together and slung it over Gobo's nose. Aside from one small bracelet that had ended up on Wembley's own wrist, every flower ring he'd made that day had ended up somewhere on Gobo.
[personal profile] talkyourwayout
The snort of laughter Louie made once he'd tracked Gobo down was far from dignified, but then again, dignified also couldn't be used to describe the sight he'd come upon: one extremely full-up Fraggle liking a small bowl of stew clean - small bowl, but not his first bowl, it would seem. He sputtered in an attempt to recover his words, but it took a minute before he could get out, "Gobo, dude, what happened?"

Early labor had begun while the parents-to-be were visiting the Manor, and - as with every other stage of the pregnancy - Mokey was delighted. Though the discomfort moving into pain was there, even that left her awed. Gobo was... Less awed, worrying over the midwife and the others getting there, but Mokey was sure things were going to go just fine - better than "just fine," in fact.

After about an hour of light contractions, though, she started to feel restless. She could move around without the midwife, surely... And a glance out the window told her what she needed. In typically-Mokey, absent-minded fashion, she started making her way to the door, murmuring something about being back soon to Gobo, who Scrooge was trying to reassure at that exact moment.
