Traps? Sure, there were traps, but the real threat to intruders kept herself hidden in the upper levels of Darkwing's hideout, watching Fenton through crosshairs. Sure, Gosalyn didn't have a costume or a secret identity yet, nor did she have real arrows because somebody said that was 'not the kind of dangerous we're going for'... But she was still a hero's crimefighting partner - thus a hero in her own right! And she wasn't about to let the hideout go without a fight!

...Except, hold up, she'd seen that face before, hadn't she? Her finger hesitated, hovering over the crossbow's trigger...

Oh!

"Hey, you're nerd number three," Gosalyn remarked as she climbed down a ladder into view, smirking. "The super scientist, right?"

[doctorintern]

He jumped a little at the sudden voice, watching in surprise as the young girl scaled down a nearby ladder. "Uh...yes?" Not that nerd was the worst thing he'd ever been called, but what was a kid doing here?

"My name's Fenton. Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera."

A sassy remark - 'a nerd by any other name' or something along those lines - was on the tip of her tongue, but then she remembered... Fenton had been helping with the search for her grandfather. Her smirk softened some.

"Cool. I'm Gosalyn- Waddlemeyer."

There was the briefest pause before she said her last name. Even if he was gone, she was still a Waddlemeyer. And besides, she should had to get back up and keep her hope alive, just as Drake had advised.

"Oh!" His face brightened a bit with recognition, his surprise giving way to a laugh. "So you're Gosalyn. It's nice to meet you."

He'd heard a bit about the girl from DW, just enough so he could help look for her grandfather. He didn't realize that she would be hanging around here, though.

"Nice to meet you, too, and... Thanks. I know that you were helping out with everything," she said with a nod. Then, she tilted her head a bit. "So, what are you doing here, anyway?"

[doctorintern]

His smile softened, and he returned the nod. "Of course. I couldn't not help out, y'know?"

Whether he was being a scientist or being a hero, the whole point of everything he did was to help people.

Her question had him gesture further into the lair, as he started making his way towards the computer. "Oh, I'm just here to run some diagnostics. Make sure everything's up to date. Is DW in?"

Gosalyn shrugged, putting her hands in her the pockets of her jacket and heading further inside. "Nah, he's out doing some research - which I'm pretty sure means combing yardsales for the old Darkwing Duck show on video tape. Can you believe the guy still has a VHS? Anyway, I'm sure he wouldn't mind you checking up on things."

And while she herself was no super science nerd, she would be lying if she said she wasn't curious about some of this tech and how it worked.

He chuckled a little as he typed a few commands into the computer. “Looking for more inspiration, huh? Y’know most of the tech he asked me to build was based on that show.”

To the surprise of no one.

Gosalyn gave a soft snort. "You don't say," she murmured. She got a chair to pull up beside Fenton, so she could watch him work. "Even the sassy AI computer?"

He took a step to the side to give her more room, more than happy to share what he was working on. As much as DW appreciated and asked for all this technology, he didn’t seem to really understand it other than the basics of how to use them.

Which is fine, he was more than happy to help and explain. But it was also nice to have others who shared this particular interest.

“Honestly, I didn’t really ask about that,” he answered with a snicker. “But it’s possible.”

Either that, or he was lonely in this big lair by himself.

.......he should really look into getting a lair or headquarters. Or something.

She laughed quietly, nodding. "I bet it was from the show... So, what're you checking for, or just seeing how it's running in general?"

[doctorintern]

Another chuckle. "Probably."

Not that he was judging. Actually, it was kind of fun seeing if he could get create actual working tech off stuff from the show. It was kind of like a challenge for himself.

"Just making sure everything is running smoothly. I'd hate for him to miss an actual emergency just because I overlooked something."

Gosalyn couldn't help smiling. Fenton really did seem like a decent guy, probably just as concerned with the average person being safe as Darkwing was- But with less ego, as far as she'd seen.

"That's cool. Hey, can I ask you something, though?"

[doctorintern]

He paused in his typing at the question, and glanced over at her curiously.

"Uh, yeah sure. What's up?"
